Cookie Jar Golf started as two golfers and a microphone. Episode one of the podcast came out on January 4, 2020, a chat about their own games and that year's new rules. Episode 400 came out on September 29, 2026.

Sam and Tom are the regular voices. They describe the show as a British take on what is going on in golf, then add a line that tells you the tone: "Some of it interesting, most of it not." They undersell it. In the last few weeks they have had USGA President Kevin Hammer on, talked short game with coach Alex Buckner, and gone through the Walker Cup.

Around the podcast they have built an independent British golf outlet, with films, photography and writing, and a YouTube channel of 571 videos that goes looking for the more interesting, less covered corners of the game. One recent film has Sam playing Prestwick's original 12 hole routing with hickory clubs. Their most watched film, 100 Years On: The Greatest Upset in Amateur Golf, has 72,000 views, and their look at Lahinch, host of the 51st Walker Cup, is past 60,000.

The Arran film tells you who they are. In 2025 they tried to play 99 holes in a day at Durness, one of the most northerly courses on the British mainland, and the wind and rain beat them. So this June they went to the Isle of Arran and played every hole on the island in one day instead: seven courses and 95 holes, sunrise to sunset, from Whiting Bay to the 12 hole links at Shiskine, raising more than £5,100 for Arran Cancer Support.

That hour long film came out on September 29, and it is why we featured them on September 30. It also makes a very good case for Arran as a golf trip. About 34,700 people subscribe.
