Joel Innes is honest about his golf. "My swing might be ugly," he writes, and he says he couldn't get out of a bunker if his life depended on it. He also says he absolutely loves the game, and you can tell.

He is based in Perth, and his start in videos came through a friend. He teamed up with Ron Chopper, who was our Creator of the day on September 20, and began filming himself hacking his way around the course. The oldest videos still on his channel are from May 2024: nine hole matches with mates at Kwinana Golf Club, already with shot tracers and drone flyovers.

It has grown fast since. There are now 364 videos, more than 5 million views and about 26,900 subscribers. He co-hosts The Swing of It podcast with Ron Chopper and Hamish Brayshaw, and this year the two of them hosted LIV Golf's official Party Hole live stream at LIV Golf Adelaide. He has filmed with Rick Shiels, and a random clubs challenge with Rick, Guy Charnock and Ron on the H.I.T GOLF channel has more than 250,000 views. On his own channel the most watched are a behind the scenes film of his UK golf trip, at about 73,600 views, and a round on Bougle Run, the short course at Barnbougle, close behind.

So expect a mid handicapper having the time of his life. Matches and alternate shot games with Ron, trips to Queenstown, Tasmania, King Island and the Old Course, and a channel tagline that tells you how seriously to take it: laugh with him or at him, as long as you are laughing.

We featured him on October 6 for The Chase, his new format, at Secret Harbour Golf Links. He takes a 12 shot head start against Braden Becker, who won the WA Open, and the only real question is which hole Becker catches him on.
