Jerell Fields

Jerell Fields has been playing golf since Tiger Woods sank the winning putt at Augusta in 1997. Almost thirty years later he sells houses in Charlotte by day, and the rest of the time he is trying to win golf tournaments with a camera following him around.

He was a four-year letterman at Winston-Salem State from 2006 to 2010. In 2018 he was medalist at the Carolinas Mid-Amateur qualifier at Raintree Country Club with a five-under 67, and today he plays off a plus 2.5 handicap. He started The CharLIT Golfer on May 31, 2025, with nine holes from the BAG Tour's Concord Classic at Rocky River. He was four under on the front that day and five under through 13 before the round got away from him.

The channel has been about tournaments ever since. In 2025 he got through the Carolinas Open qualifier at The Club at Irish Creek, then made the cut at Cedarwood with a 69. A week short of the channel's first birthday, he got his first win on camera, an APT event at Pine Island Country Club in Mount Holly. His most watched upload is his 1v1 with Stephen Curry at Myers Park Country Club, past 168,000 views, with his 2025 U.S. Amateur qualifier at Mid Pines next at about 90,000.

Watching him is like riding along with a friend who happens to be a very good player. He tells you what is on the line before the round starts, like the top 18 and ties who get into the Carolinas Open, and then you find out with him whether it works. He has been first or second alternate for the U.S. Mid-Amateur three of the last four years, and he keeps going back. His About page sums him up as "just enjoying my time on the golf course and getting better every day."

We featured him on October 22 for round two of the North Carolina Mid-Amateur at North Ridge Country Club. He got to the course almost two hours early and found the greens being double cut and double rolled. Go see how the putts held up.
